Breaking News - Michael Jackson, renowned beer journalist has passed away. It was revealed in 2006 that Mr. Jackson has had Parkinsons Disease for nearly a decade.

I met Mr. Jackson last September 2006 In Denver Colorado after the Great American Beer Festival while enjoying some fine Whisky. He gracously supported the Craft  Brew Cast and agreed to be a featured guest. 

My  condolences to his family and loved ones. We will truely miss this legendary man.

The Craft Brew Cast website is a work in progress. Kinda like a beer recipe! Determining the malt profile, and the hops. Well in this case the podcast and the blog. They are displaying on the home page with a nice little widget that I got from SpringWidgets. You can add one of these babies to your web site or desk top too, and have it display a number of rss feeds. Like Brewery updates, Brewing News, and beer bloggers posts. It’s very cool. Check it out!

The latest episode discribes a Vertical tasting, what a vintage ale is and what to look for when selecting ales to celar. Jimp Parker with the soon to open Green Dragon Bistro and Brewpub talks with us about the very unique plans that they have. Ninkasi’s Jamie Floyd tells us what new beers to look for from ninkasi this season, and teases us with a secret. And we have MUSIC!

I’ve got 6 hours of interviews from the Great American Beer Festival in Denver Colorado 2006, and quite alot of interviews taken at this years Oregon Brewers Festival. Jim Parker was kind enough to host a little party at the soon to be open Green Dragon in Portland during the OBF weekend of action. They are putting a new twist on the idea of ‘Brewing Community’.  The Green Dragon features a brewery, a distillery, a public house, a bistro, AND a beer library! Imagine it, a huge walk in cooler lined from floor to ceiling with vintage and collectible microbrews. They’ve bought a peddle cab and plan on providing a ‘green’ shuttle to nearby breweries too: Roots, and Lucky Lab among them. I’ll get to work putting the Brewcast together for you.

I have been tangled up in making the website more functional, but it’s time to get busy with the fun stuff-Brewcasting.

The calendar is up and running. It is a google calendar and you can subscribe to it too. I’ve included Brew Festivals from across the country, and even abroad.

Check it out on the web site. Let me know about events that are happening near you. Just provide dates, locations, and the event name.

It seems Comcast has worked things out, and the podcast does play thru iTunes! You can also successfully download the file and it will play just fine too. They player on my home page isn’t playing the lasted episode yet. I’ll continue to work on getting the site player to work. But don’t wait for that, download or subscribe today! - Christine

Comcast has identified a problem with their “area node” in my area. The affect is that the internet connection drops every minute or so….kinda like a cell phone.

What that means for us is that the Craft Brew Cast #2 file seems to upload, but is corrupted and will not play or download. Comcast says they’re working on it, and that it’ll be a couple of days.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep trying on my end.

Lot’s of festivities during the Oregon Brew Festival weekend. I ran into Sean O’Sullivan of the 21st Amendment brewery in CA. You’ll hear what he has to say on the next episode.

The news and events segments need some work. Send me details of events near you so that I can “beef up” the Brewcast. What’s your brewery doing?

Scott Gallagher with Rogue Ales did just that. He gives us the skinny on the upcoming Bones and Brews festival.
